After many years of working as veterinary surgeons in several different practices, including mixed animal practices, first opinion practices and dedicated emergency care practices, we decided to open our own practice to provide the high standards and quality of care we feel every pet and their owner deserves. After many years of searching for the ideal property, we purchased The Red Brick Inn in 2010 and building work began to transform it into the modern, flexible veterinary practice it is today. My Pets Vets opened its doors on 19th September 2011.

Finding the right support and nursing team possible was a must and we put many hours of research and work into finding the best candidates possible.

We wanted a team capable of delivering the friendly, compassionate service we feel integral to the care we provide, whilst also being able to deliver the highest standards of medical care possible. All members of our team make the welfare of our patients their highest priority and make every effort to ensure that the pets entrusted to our care are treated as we would treat our own, (those pets who have to stay with us over Christmas even get their own visit from our Christmas Elves, otherwise known as the gift bearing My Pets Vets nurses!).

Although our team has changed and expanded over the years, as we have grown, we have continued to ensure we choose individuals who we feel will complement our practice with their skills and personality.

My Pets Vets has been offering Veterinary Nurse training since 2012. We are proud to have helped many nurses obtain their Registered Veterinary Nurse status since we opened and are currently helping to train our new cohort of Veterinary Nurses, who we know will become great assets to the Veterinary Nursing community.

In 2014 we expanded the practice to include another family member, when my sister Pippa Purnell joined us as Practice Manager. It is an absolute joy and honour to have her working with us – and she assures us she feels the same way!

In 2015 the practice underwent extensive remodelling to provide us with a larger reception area, a more open waiting room, a fourth consulting room, and an expanded kennel room for dogs with two spacious walk-in kennels.

Lloyd and I have seen My Pets Vets grown from an empty shell to a busy, happy veterinary practice. We can honestly say that it has been more of a success then we could ever have imagined or hoped for. We are incredibly proud of our team and of our work in the local community with various animal charities. We hope to be able to expand on both in the coming years.

We know emergencies don’t wait for a convenient time and want our clients to know they can rely on us, which is why we have ensured we provide 24-hour care to our clients and their pets, even when the practice is closed.

We are the only practice in the area that provides this service to its clients, and we have done so since we first opened our doors. It is possible for our clients to speak to the veterinary surgeon on call when the practice is closed by just phoning 01942 417800.

Rest assured we always have support staff on standby whatever the time of day or night. As a team we feel preventative healthcare is of the utmost importance for your pets but also for your family and your home. We endeavour to advise you of the best practices available to keep your pets’ healthy and happy and offer nurse clinics for a wide range of issues.

We are delighted that you have found your way to our website and hope you like what you see. If you are not one of our existing clients then please check out our feedback page, and register with us online.

Thank you for reading.
